These Victorian era (1837 – 1910) hand embroidered SILVER BULLION WIRE Bag Piper’s proficiency patch and Corporal’s chevron badge were likely worn on the uniform of a PIPER from the Scottish Highland Rifles Regiment (Or some-such). The GREEN background colourway was worn by British Army RIFLES Regiments. Rifle Regiments were considered an ELITE force and only the FINEST MARKSMEN were allocated RIFLED weapons, the regular infantry were using Brown Bess Muskets (IE smooth bore).
